The Hun is asymmetrical, the upper belly being 4" longer than the lower. The suede leather that wraps the belly is etched with a knotwork design borrowed from a piece of 4th Century silver work. The sihas are solid ashwood, carved with a central spine to hold the string in place when at rest. When unstrung, this bow looks like a "C". It is 55" tall unstrung, and 61" tall when strung with its 58" string. It does not stack until 38" of draw. The weight is measured at 30".This is the design that is the most efficient of a very efficient line of bows. Kassai chose to shoot the Hun as our regular bow. He feels he must use a light bow. Kassai as he is shooting 100s of shots each day to keep his horses trained.
The bow throws a standard wood shaft at a velocity equal to a long bow of half again its draw weight. The explanation seems to be that, since the bow resists the pull at its full weight the full length of its draw, it also gives back that energy at the full weight the full length of the travel (release). Also, there is no energy wasted in hand shock. This efficiency is purchased with a rather limited range of weights. If you wish to have the Huns performance in a draw weight over 44# you want the Tall Magyar.
Draw weights available are 25# to 44#
